How to Use Invisible Text on Twitter (X)
Twitter (now known as X) is a platform built on noise. Millions of users are constantly yelling at each other, trying to get their opinions heard in 280 characters or less.
In a timeline filled with loud, aggressive text, the most surprising thing you can see is absolute silence.
Sending a completely blank tweet, or having a completely blank Display Name, is a fantastic way to stop the scroll and force people to look at your profile. But Elon Musk’s engineers are smart. They actively block the standard spacebar. Here is how you bypass the filters on X.
The Power of the Blank Tweet
Here is an unpopular opinion: A blank tweet will almost always get more engagement than a generic text post.
Why? Because humans are incredibly curious. When someone scrolls past a massive, empty void on their timeline, their brain assumes the app is glitching, or an image failed to load. They stop scrolling. They click on the tweet. They check the replies to see if anyone else is seeing the same glitch.
The Blank Flyer Analogy
Imagine walking down a city street. Every pole is covered in bright, loud flyers advertising concerts, lost dogs, and political campaigns. Then, you see a flyer that is completely, perfectly blank. No text. No images.
You would stop and stare at that flyer longer than any of the loud ones, simply trying to figure out what it means. An invisible text post is a blank flyer on the Twitter timeline.
How to Send an Empty Tweet
To send an empty tweet on X, you cannot use a Zero Width Space. Twitter’s algorithm will trim it and throw a “Tweet cannot be empty” error. You need a structural Unicode block.
- Go to an invisible character generator.
- Copy the Hangul Filler (U+3164) or the Braille Pattern Blank (U+2800).
- Open Twitter and compose a new tweet.
- Paste the character.
- Hit Post.
If you want the tweet to be massive, press “Enter” and paste the character again. Repeat this 10 times to create a massive wall of white space that takes up the entire screen on mobile devices.
How to Blank Your Twitter Display Name
Just like Instagram and TikTok, you cannot put an invisible character in your actual @handle on Twitter. It will break the URL structure.
But you can absolutely wipe out your Display Name.
- Navigate to your Twitter Profile and click “Edit Profile.”
- Tap the “Name” field.
- Delete your existing name and paste an Invisible Symbol.
- Save.
Your profile will now look incredibly sleek. Paired with an aesthetic profile picture, a nameless Twitter account creates a premium, mysterious vibe that stands out in any comment section.
Pro Tip: Do not spam blank tweets. Twitter’s algorithm flags accounts that rapidly post repetitive content (including invisible text) as spam bots. Post one blank tweet, pin it to your profile, and let the engagement roll in!
